The Worship Pastor at Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades plays a crucial role in leading and developing all aspects of worship and production ministry. This individual will be responsible for cultivating an environment of authentic worship that inspires spiritual growth and connects the congregation to God. The role includes leading worship during weekend services, overseeing the recruitment and development of the worship team, and ensuring that the worship ministry aligns with the church’s mission and vision.

Plan, lead, and coordinate worship services

Recruit, train, and mentor worship team members

Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other ministry leaders to design worship services that align with the church’s spiritual direction, teaching themes, and overall vision

Offer pastoral care to worship team members, encouraging them in their spiritual development

Oversee the music library, incorporating a blend of contemporary, traditional, and culturally relevant worship songs

Work with the tech team to ensure smooth execution of sound, lighting, and media support for worship services, rehearsals, and pre-service setups

Lead worship for church events such as retreats, conferences, and special services

Manage the worship ministry budget, schedule team members, and ensure all necessary resources (instruments, music, etc.) are well-maintained and available

The ideal Worship Pastor will have a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a genuine passion for leading others in worship.

A strong commitment to biblical teaching, prayer, and discipleship, with a heart for growing spiritually alongside others.

Proven experience in leading worship in a church context, with strong musical and vocal abilities.

Ability to lead worship vocally and proficiently play at least one instrument (e.g., guitar is preferred)

Ability to inspire and lead a diverse team of volunteers, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Agreement with Calvary Church’s theological beliefs and mission, and a heart for ministry and outreach.

Strong ability to plan, organize, and execute worship services with excellence and collaboration, with administrative help available for support.
