The Opportunity

Grace Bible Church of Bend is a gospel-centered church located in beautiful Bend, Oregon. They describe themselves as reformed in theology and missional in practice. Grace Bible seeks to glorify God by exalting Jesus Christ and being an authentic community of believers who live as the body of Christ and the family of God in Bend and around the world.

Grace Bible Church was planted in 2011 by Lead Pastor Phil Kooistra and has grown to an average Sunday attendance of 400-500 with approximately 250 covenant members. They highly value and prioritize biblical eldership, expository preaching, believer’s baptism, the sufficiency of Scripture, and church membership. Grace Bible is part of the Acts 29 church planting network.

The Community

Bend, Oregon is a beautiful, fast-growing city with a population of approximately 105,000, with the greater metropolitan area trending toward 200,000 people. It is known for its wide-ranging outdoor recreational opportunities, including skiing, sledding, hiking, fishing, biking, climbing, rafting, and more. The vast majority of people in Central Oregon are unchurched and do not identify with religion of any kind. Given the growing population and current spiritual climate, there is an abundant opportunity for the gospel and to be the light of Christ.

Qualifications

Must meet the qualifications of a pastor in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9

3-5+ years as a worship leader in a church similar to the size and breadth at GBC

Must fulfill the duties outlined in the GBC Membership Covenant and affirm GBC’s statement of faith

Experience and proficiency with Mac computers and operating systems

Experience and proficiency with ProPresenter, Planning Center Services, and Google Drive Apps (Sheets, Docs, etc.)

Experience and proficiency with lighting boards, camera recording equipment, in-ear monitors, and using multi-tracks (Playback or similar software)

Experience and proficiency with Logic Pro or equivalent program

Possess the musical and leadership ability to run a 1-hour Sunday morning-only rehearsal if needed (currently there are no mid-week rehearsals)

Has a love for both old hymns and modern choruses

Able to effectively lead and recruit volunteers for music and tech teams

Demonstrated gifts in leading congregational worship (participatory vs. performing)

Demonstrated creativity in worship leadership and song arrangement

Ideal Candidate

A strong musician on guitar (or keys) and singer that can help both musicians and vocalists

Humble team player who demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit and works for the glory of God and seeks excellence in all things

Desire to continue an established worship philosophy built on a robust scriptural foundation using music that reflects a high level of craftsmanship and congregational accessibility

Skilled in the personal ministry of the Word to effectively shepherd, disciple, and counsel worship team members

Ability to create a liturgy that is consistent with scriptural themes as ledby the pastoral team for the worship service

Is technically savvy and comfortable learning new tech skills as needed

Excellent decision-making skills using wisdom and discernment

Self-starter and disciplined to work in an unsupervised environment
