THE OPPORTUNITY

The Mount Bible Church is seeking a Director of Student Ministries to lead and reach students as a pastor/shepherd with the love of God and His Word.

The Mount Bible Church is a merger of two churches that came together in January 2023. Mount Ararat Bible Church joined together with First Baptist Church of Canoga Park to better reach and serve their community. The result is a joyful and hard-working congregation that serves many young families and young adults in the San Fernando Valley.

Sunday morning regular attendance is about 250 and contains a mixture of contemporary and traditional worship. Their focus is to Love God, Serve Each Other, and Reach the World with their Core Values of Worship, Fellowship, and Mission. They are passionate about the Word of God and have a desire to seek out opportunities to reach their community and the world with the message of Christ’s hope. The elders and deacons hold to the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689).

THE COMMUNITY

The Mount Bible Church is located in Winnetka, CA, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles. The area immediately surrounding the church is heavily Latino and middle-class socio-economically. They are very close to a large Community College (Pierce College) and Cal State Northridge, which provide great potential to reach students in the area. Most of the congregation currently lives outside the 5-mile radius of the church in more upper-middle-class neighborhoods. Within a few miles of the church is a large and popular mall and shopping area, a business district, and the future home of the Los Angeles Rams practice facilities.

The region is very ethnically diverse as Los Angeles is a popular immigrant destination. The Valley has significant Latino, east Asian and Armenian populations that create an exciting, diverse dynamic. Many in the area are unchurched though both Latin and Armenian culture are historically religious. Needless to say, Winnetka is a multi-cultural and growing area with great opportunities for reaching people with the Gospel.

Qualifications

MDiv or in progress strongly preferred

Very high view of the Bible as the inerrant and infallible Word of God

Exhibits 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 character

Good communicator one-on-one, in small groups, and larger groups

Able to subscribe to the system of doctrine found in the London Baptist Confession (1689)

Covenant in his theological persuasion (or at least not dispensational)
